Lloyd Chaput and sailing go hand-in-hand.

The Cornwall resident has been associated with sailing since 1971, when he became a member of the Stormont Yacht Club. He has been a member of the Cornwall Power and Sail Squadron since 1977.

Chaput’s impressive credentials include;

Fleet captain 1980-82, and 1995-97; Vice Commodore 1974-76; Commodore 1976-1978; and Director 1978-1982. He returned as Director in 1992, a position he currently holds.

In 1997, he was named the Stormont Yacht Club’s Racer of the Year.

His success in racing includes the Albacore Class Area 10 Championship in 1976. In 1984, he won the Albacore Class Club Championship.

He was Tanzer 22 Class Champion in 1986 and 1996.

In 1980, 1996, and 1997 he won the Laser Class Championship.

He was Open Handicap Racing Champion series overall winner in 1986, 1987, 1992, 1996, and 1997.

And in 1986 and 1996, he was the Borland Champion.
