Suzanne Legault didn’t discover tennis until 1980, when she was 35 years old.
It was love at first sight. Legault, who was helped by a background in squash, spent the first four years learning the game; then, she started winning, and winning, and winning!
The highlight of her career came this year in a Montreal sanctioned tournament. She won three rounds to gain a berth in the finals, where she lost to the Canadian Champion in her age group, 6-2,6-3.
On the Cornwall and Regional level, she has won nearly every tournament she has entered.
She has been the Cornwall Open tournament women’s singles Champion eight times, and was runner-up in 1990.
In the women’s doubles, she has been part of the winning duo seven times, and runner-up twice. Six times she was both the singles and doubles Champion. She has been on the mixed doubles Championship team once, and was runner-up once.
She has won the Hubs Masters Tournament three times.
She was a founding member of the Cornwall Indoor Tennis Club in 1989. She has been manager of the club since its founding.
At the Cornwall Tennis Club, she has won the women’s singles club title four times, and was runner-up once. She has also won the women’s singles open tournament title, and women’s doubles Championship every year it was held.
