Elwin Sommerville, born in 1885, was one of Cornwall’s all-round athletes.

He was outstanding in hockey and lacrosse and for many years wore the Cornwall Lacrosse uniform.

He was on Cornwall’s great lacrosse team in 1912 when they went to Vancouver.

He tried out in box lacrosse in 1931 and called it quits.

Elwin played baseball and soccer; and refereed and umpired in the North End League.

Elwin, a mild tempered athlete, passed away in 1961.
