Alex Flanigan started out as a trainer in the old Victoria Rink with Freddie McAteer, and John Denneny and then with Don Penniston in 1937 with the Flyers in the Allan Cup finals.
He served with Bill Boucher, Lex Cook, and Frank Mario.
He was a trainer for the Flyers when Punch Imlach, Bud Poile, Jack Riley, and Billy Ray played.
Alex assisted the O.C.O.T. teams for years. He coached the Verdun Eagles. Big Alex was known as “Jolly Jelly Roll.”
He spent 28 long years as a trainer for many sports.
Alex was always ready to assist with any sport.
