Francis Maurice Tyo, born in 1905, was a rough and tough boxer who took on all comers.
He started at the age of 14 years and retired at age 25.
He sparred with one of Jack Dempsey’s sparring partners, Red Payne.
Francis fought and trained with Hec Montsion, Don St. Louis, and Art Gagnon. He trained his two sons Vincent and Harold.
When the Holy Name Club folded, Francis put up a ring in his back yard. He loved the boxing game.
Francis also participated in track and field, long distance running, and football.
