Vera Levy Watson was born in Cornwall on April 8, 1926.
She participated in numerous sports including basketball, badminton, swimming, girl’s hockey, etc.
She played on the city basketball team during the finals.
Vera started ladies 5-pin bowling with Dorothy Myers and held a high average for many years and won numerous high-score awards and tournaments.
Vera also started ladies 10-pin league bowling with Terry McGillis at Towne Lanes and held high average and high triple for many years.
Vera instructed junior bowling with Farrand Helmer at Towne Lanes, for 2 years.
Vera also appeared on TV’s “L’Heure des Quilles” at Laurentian Lanes for 2 weeks in 1967.
Vera joined the Cornwall Golf Club in 1947 and won the ladies’ Championship in 1953, 1956, 1960, 1965, and 1967. Vera has participated in numerous out of town tournaments over the past 25 years and went to the semi-finals in the 1st flight of the Quebec Ladies Tournament at Summerlea. Vera won the Mixed Labour Day Trophy with Alex McAllister in 1974.
She and her late husband Bruce have 4 children – Gary, Brian, Karen and Lynn.
Vera Watson died on July 8, 2014, at the age of 88.
