George Wilson, born 1874, was a veteran editor of the Standard-Freeholder.
He started to work at the Cornwall Standard in 1889 as a Devil’s Printer setting up the type by hand.
He was also correspondent for the Montreal Star, and the Gazette.
He loved covering lacrosse games; he worked in the rain under his umbrella walking up and down the field. He got to know all the lacrosse players in the NLU and other local leagues.
He gave good coverage to all sports both junior and senior.
