Championships have followed Shannon Burke throughout her basketball career.

Shannon began playing basketball in 1986 as a member of the Cornwall and United Counties Basketball Association (CUCBA).

She parlayed her skills to lead the St. Lawrence Saints Junior Girls High School team to the S. D. & G. Championships, as well as EOSSA, and OFSSA appearances beginning in 1989.Shannon used her “high end” skills in scoring and rebounding to lead the Saints Senior Girls teams to back to back S. D. & G. titles as well as an EOSSA Championship in 1993.

She capped her high school career with an OFSSA Championship in 1994.

 Shannon led the CUCBA team that finished third at the Provincial Championships in 1991 prior to leading her team to a second place finish at the same tournament two years later.Shannon was invited to join the Ontario Juvenile Girls Basketball team that competed in the National Championships in B.C in 1992.

Her accomplishments with the Saints and CUCBA teams were noticed by University of Vermont coaches as Shannon was awarded a four year basketball scholarship.

Shannon used her natural athletic ability to also succeed and flourish as a member of the Cornwall Legion Cougars Track and Field team, Kinsmen Minor Softball as well as her high school soccer, volleyball, and track and field teams.

Shannon’s spent the early 1990’s as a regular at the annual Cornwall Lions Club Sports Awards Dinner winning the 1990 Joe St. Denis Award, the 1993 Female Basketball Award, and the 1994 Joe Assaly Trophy as Cornwall and area’s Top Junior Athlete.Her trophy shelf also includes several St. Lawrence Saints awards including Basketball, Cross Country, and Female Athlete of the Year.
