Fisher Carl

Carl C. (Mr. Sports) Fisher
Sport: Media
Year Inducted: 1998

Carl C. Fisher was, without a doubt, the father of Cornwall broadcasting according to another broadcaster, Bill Lasalle.

He joined CKSF Radio in 1947. Carl instantly gained the trust of his fans and peers. Most people agree that, of all the local announcers who have left a lasting impression, Carl tops the list.

He was newsman, Cornwall’s first radio sports voice, commercial reader and he also hosted some very popular music shows.

Carl was by far one of the best play-by-play sports announcers in the area.

Professional wrestling at the Water Street Arena drew thousands. Carl would sit at ringside and act as Master of Ceremonies.

He received the respect of everyone who knew him. An example of this respect came in the form of a Carl Fisher Appreciation Day, at which Carl was acknowleged as the man called “Mr. Sports”
