Farrand “Fern” Gillie, born in 1905, had an outstanding hockey career. He was a speedy skater and a hard worker. He played on many Cornwall teams in the OHA.

He turned professional with the Detroit Olympics for five seasons. He also played in Windsor and Rochester, N.Y.

He then played with the Cornwall Flyers in the Allen Cup Finals.

He coached the Brighton Tigers in the English League.
