Jean Paul “Sugar” Henri, born August 5, 1926, joined the Canadian Army in 1945 after two years as the top scorer with Cornwall in the Ontario Provincial Lacrosse League.

He was posted in Quebec City where senior lacrosse was the rage. Henri decided to drop into a team practice and when the Quebec club discovered the visitor’s identity, he was invited to play.

Henri lived up to his reputation and was instrumental in turning the Quebec team into Champions. He was their top scorer.

He left Quebec in 1947 and returned to Cornwall. He brought his scoring touch intact. With Henri as one of its top scoring threats, Cornwall won a league Championship.

He died September 1, 1992.
