Lutt Bergeron Sr.

Lutt Bergeron Sr. was born October 1st, 1908. He was a founding member and director of the Cornwall Sports Hall of Fame.

He was a member of the City Sports and Recreation committee, which obtained the lighting system for the Cornwall Athletic Grounds.

As an active Legion member and former president of that organization, Lutt became actively involved in their sports programs.

He served for many years as team manager for the Legion Softball Team, which won the EOSSA Championship, as well as many northern softball titles.

In the winter months, he managed the Junior Legion Hockey team, which won the Citizens’ Shield.

Lutt then turned his attention to the youth of Cornwall and became the first president of the Junior Baseball League. He later became commissioner of the Minor Baseball League, a position he held for five years. Lutt Bergeron Memorial Field at Legion Ball Park was so named upon the completion of the baseball diamonds during the early 1990’s.
