Gilles Leger started playing sports in 1952, including baseball, football, hockey, lacrosse, and fastball. In between these sports Gilles also took up swimming, badminton, golf and tennis.

He was a Junior NY Cafe Aces Champion in 58-59, he played semi-pro football with Massena Warriors between 62-64 and Champions in 62-63. He made Champion in 1953, 59-60, 70 and 71 while playing hockey for numerous teams. In fastball, he was on the Ontario Juvenile Champions in 1958 with the New York Aces, and the Courtaulds in 63-64.

In basketball, he was with the Cornwall League Champions in 1964.

He was a hockey coach at St. Francis Xavier University from 67-72.

Gilles moved to professional ranks in 1972 as an assistant coach with Ottawa Nationals of the World Hockey Association.

Gilles later moved to the Toronto Toros in 73-75, then moved to General Manager of the Burmington Bulls from 1976-79.

In 79, Gilles was hired by the Quebec Nordiques to become Director of Player Personnel and became President of the Fredericton Express. Gilles successfully handled both jobs at the same time.

Gilles was also President and Governor for the Quebec Ramports in 83-84. Gilles was very instrumental in obtaining the Stastny brothers (Peter, Marion and Anton)from Czechoslovakia for the Quebec Nordiques.

Gilles is married to Bess and they have two children, Kimberly and Michael.

Presently (2008-9) Gilles works as a scout for the New York Rangers.
