Ronald R. (Satch) Quenneville

Like so many Cornwall athletes of the 1940’s and 50’s, Ronald R. “Satch” Quenneville was a product of that grand old organisation, Our Citizens of Tomorrow (OCOT).
In 1956, Ron bolted from the Cornwall City Junior “B” Hockey League to the St. Catherine’s Teepees of the Ontario Hockey Association, then operated by the Chicago Black Hawks. A team-mate in the two seasons he spent with the Teepees was Bobby Hull, one of the game’s greatest names.
After graduating from the Teepees, Ron played for Louisville Rebels, International Hockey League Champions in 1958-59.
The following season he joined Sault Ste. Marie Thunderbirds of the Eastern Professional Hockey League and in 1960-61 finished his minor career with the Greensboro Generals.
Returning home, Ron joined the Morrisburg Combines, the team that won the Kennedy, Memorial Winter Tournament in Lake Placid which included teams from Canada, the United States and Europe in 1968 and 1970.
Ron had a versatile athletic career. He was a halfback with the St. Lawrence High School Saints football team, and played senior lacrosse and softball.
In 1972, he was Cornwall Minor Lacrosse Association Coach of the Year.
