Angus (Bones) Allen
Sport: Lacrosse
Year Inducted: 1971

Angus ‘Bones’ Allen was born in 1881 and learned to play lacrosse on several local junior boys teams in Cornwall. He began playing senior lacrosse in Ottawa, ca. 1898–99 for the Ottawa Capitals. He would return to Cornwall in 1900 as a member of the senior Cornwall Lacrosse Club. Over the next five years he played with the likes of Cory Hess, John White, Frank Lally, W. Burns, and Alf Tobin. In 1908, back in Ottawa, he went west on tour with the Ottawa team and ended up staying in Vancouver. He played professional lacrosse with the Vancouver Lacrosse Club between 1909 and 1915. In 1912 fellow Cornwall native Newsy Lalonde also played with the VLC. Angus went overseas as a member of the CEF after the 1913 season but returned in 1915 for one final season with Vancouver Millionaires. In six seasons (1909–1913; 1915) with Vancouver, he played in 56 games and scored a total of 38 goals. He was primarily a ‘home’ (midfield) player but halfway through his final season he moved up to the ‘outside home’ position on the attack. ‘Bones’ was a rugged and clever lacrosse player who died in Vancouver June 28, 1941. He was posthumously inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame as a field player in 1966.
